2010.1.2
Southern California is a weird place to live in winter. I have roses blooming on the side of my driveway, and trees and grass that are in a dormant state in my yard all at the same time. Yesterday it was in the low 60′s (F) and I couldn’t get warm. I had to fire up the heater in the house all day. Today it is about 75F and felt great. I’ve become a true wuss when it comes to temperature after living here for a few years.
More to the point, this picture was taken in my back yard on the same vine within a few inches of each other. There are things dieing and things blooming all around. Funny place this is. Now, for those of you really paying attention, I actually snapped the shutter on this one yesterday, but finished processing today. To review my own rules for this project 365 – I will take pictures every day, and process everyday. I hope to post all my pictures as close to the day the shutter was clicked as possible, but because I have a day job, there will be times where there is a mismatch. I make the rules, just sit back and enjoy.
This picture was also inspired by Lori Jackson. I met her through twitter/facebook/flickr (amazing what social networks online can do). She did a project 50 (50 days, with her 50mm lens) that I loved last year. She inspired me to do my own project 50. I loved the diptychs of flowers that she created. You can see them here in the flower set of her flickr stream. Great stuff.
