Simplifying My Web Presence

You may have noticed a few recent changes, and also a bit of an absence from me recently.  The complexity of my web presence and the sites to keep up are getting a bit out of control.  I looked around recently and found that I have all the following sites:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Posterous
  • Tumblr
  • Pixelpost Photoblog
  • WordPress photography blog
  • Eye’m site
  • Instagram site
  • Personal Blog
  • Google+
  • Flickr
  • 500px
  • Redbubble
  • Blurb
  • Lulu
  • and I’m sure some I’m not thinking about.

The point of all of this is for me to take pictures and have a place to share them.  Things have gotten so out of control that I do more organizing then shooting. This has to stop.  So, I’m trying to simplify and put most of all my “blog-ish” things on WordPress, I will still use flickr, and you can’t do with out facebook (I’ll also keep twitter and google+ but I don’t really “post” there, it is more of a discussion site for me right now).

The downside of all of this is I won’t feel like I have a true photoblog.  I’m working on a way to use one wordpress install with two different types of postings and that will make me feel a bit better, but I’m no longer a “coder” so it will take me a while.  Over the years I have looked up to so many great photo-bloggers that I really wanted to do like they do, but I’ve learned over the last two years it is the taking and making of images that I enjoy more then the posting of those images.  So, easy life here we come.

This site is not how I want it yet, but it is functioning.  I will be making more changes over the coming weeks as I figure this all out and settle into my new pattern.  2012 is all about making images, not posting them.

Thanks for the patience.
