The first sign of autumn. I thought it would be the kids going back to school, but "fall" struck me when I saw this lone leaf sitting on a cement wall by my office. I guess autumn is here. In my area of the world that normally means wild fires, and dry hot wind coming off the deserts. Autumn is a weird beast in Southern California.

This is Toby. Toby is Tigger's best friend. Toby is the dog of one of my wife's best friends so I guess that makes sense. We had a Labor Day BBQ this afternoon and Toby was there so I got a chance to take this shot. Pet's are not too bad as models - as long as you have a toy or treat they are pretty good for you.

You may have noticed from my photos (iPhone postings mostly) that I spent a few days in Disneyland. We live close by, have annual passes, but don't get there much (at least I don't, the kids and wife get them more often). At the last minute we decided to use some hotel points, and have a sort of free 2 day free mini-vacation.

On my return I spent some time playing with Chromasia's Mini PSD's. I love these. I love David's work and have for a long time. He puts together PSD's of his post processed work to be looked at, studied, learned from, etc. It is a great place to look for ideas and learn from his knowledge in a more hands on way. Check them out, well worth the price in my opinion. I'm not supper happy with this image, it is not as sharp as i would like, but I got to playing with it and I like what happened to it. So I decided to post it.

2010.9.1 (First Day of School)

Sam and Tree. Day one of school 2010-2011. 10th grade, and 8th grade. They are both great students, in student government, basically straight A students, do music, and get up very early for a religious study class everyday before school. What else could a Dad ask for??

Not much to say tonight. Just working to get back into the "zone" and the habit of a picture a day. It's amazing how fast time can creep up on you.

I'll admit I didn't think I was going to pull a picture off for today. But then, as the sun was going down, and I was getting back in my car after picking up frozen yogurt for our late night snack - there it was. A simply yellow fire hydrant with almost dead purple flowers in front of it. My kind of picture. :)

I've been out of it for a few days. It thought I would be able to keep up with posting, but I decided rather the force it I would rather miss a few days. I would much rather post stuff I like then images that I'm just posting to make it every day.

This is my daughter Samantha. She is getting older and older, and in the process prettier and prettier. I miss the days when she was a little kid snuggling with me to watch TV, but I guess it is worth it to watch her grow up into a beautiful young women. (Cue up "Cat's in the Cradle" in the back ground). We went out for a BBQ salad this afternoon. I let her know I was behind on pictures so she was going to pay. She just rolled her eyes.

I mentioned yesterday that I would be traveling without the ability to upload photos from my DSLR. So, as promised here is an iPhone shot. I was drawn in by the reflections on the floor. I couldn't get those shots to work the way I wanted but I ended up with some great motion effects. I love the girl just watching all this go by her.

I will be doing some traveling for my day job the next few days so I may be limited to posting from my iPhone. I will not have my laptop so no processing or uploading. I need my "work" laptop and there is not much I can do with it. It's funny how much photography has changed over the years. I'm not just talking about chemicals, paper, film, and equipment. The entire "culture" or photography has changed. I must be getting old. :)
